Enigmatic like few other regions in the world, Argentinean Patagonia is a vast territory full of mystery and magnetism, capable of captivating anyone who approaches its landscapes. The small and picturesque tourist village of El Calafate, located at the foot of the homonymous hill and on the shores of Lake Argentino, in the Province of Santa Cruz, is known as the National Capital of Los Glaciares due to its proximity to the imposing Los Glaciares National Park and its famous Perito Moreno Glacier, declared Natural Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO in 1981.
Breakfast
Full Day (8 hrs. 160 Kms.)
Departure in the morning to travel the 80 km distance that separates El Calafate from the Perito Moreno Glacier, the only one in the world in constant advance. During the trip you will visit beautiful places of the Andean foothills, bordering the southern shore of Lake Argentino. After crossing the Centinela and Mitre rivers, you will arrive at Brazo Rico to enter Los Glaciares National Park. Skirting the Rico Lake, you will begin to see the icebergs floating on the water until you can finally appreciate in all its magnitude this natural wonder that has been declared by the United Nations as a World Heritage Site. Overnight stay and return to El Calafate. Approximate duration: 8 hs
Nautical Safari /Shared - Additional to Perito Moreno excursion | Spanish-English-speaking Guide
The excursion consists of a one-hour sail along the Brazo Rico, which allows us to appreciate the majestic south face of the Perito Moreno glacier. This glacier wall is around 60 meters high and more than 100 meters below lake level. The boat approaches the point where the glacier meets the Magellan Peninsula at around 200 m, then travels the full length (almost 3 km) of the south wall, allowing you to appreciate the daily detachments and the magical beauty of its seracs, crevasses and intense blues. This service is provided by the 110-passenger Yagán boat. Embarkation takes place at the port located in the Bajo de las Sombras bay, some 7 km before the glacier viewpoint. It is highly recommended that you take this trip, as the southern wall is not visible in all its splendor from the footbridges.

Sailing on a northwesterly direction, pass by Punta Avellaneda and Boca del Diablo- the narrowest parts of the lake (800 mt.). After a two-hour navigation, you see a succession of ice floes announcing that the Upsala Glacier is not far. You then enter the Upsala channel and pause in front of the barrier of ice floes, which temporarily prevents the entry to the channel. If weather conditions permit it, you can admire the Upsala Glacier in the distance. You continue heading south and take the Spegazzini channel to get to the glacier with frontal walls of between 80 and 130 meters above the lake level. Lunch is served as you enjoy this wonderful landscape
Toward the late afternoon you cruise to Puesto de las Vacas – a bay within the Spegazzini Channel, where you can take an interesting walk for a different panoramic view of the Spegazzini Glacier. You return by the northern arm to the port, and head back to the Hotel. Accommodation.
